Gisoo Kim's camera is her constant companion. Her motifs are people, landscapes and spaces. Her photographs emerge from the moment. She assembles individual photographs or cutouts into collages and stitches them together into abstract or new poetic pictorial worlds. She consciously leaves traces of her artistic intervention on the photographic image surface. Only on closer inspection does it become apparent that individual elements have also been sewn and embroidered by hand onto the photographs.
Gisoo Kim expands the photographic surface with her embroideries, adding a new layer. The embroidered and sewn elements expand the real photographed image space and stand in a mythological, surreal dialogue with her photography. She virtually sews a second reality, multilayered and full of poetry.
