Anke Lohrer (born 1969) studied from 1995 to 2001 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Jannis Kounellis and Fritz Schwegler. She has been a master student of Fritz Schwegler since 1999. After her studies, she received a scholarship from the German-French Cultural Council for a stay in Paris with mentor Jean-Marc Bustamante at the École nationale. She works in multimedia, designs expansive installations, makes videos, drawings and paintings. Since 2018, she has increasingly devoted herself to painting. Her artist books are a recurring subject. In her work, the artist is particularly concerned with a connection between science and philosophy, with the boundaries and transitions between natural science and art. Increasingly, the plant world is at the centre of her work.
